[11 Mar 10] New Bureau of Rural Science Biosecurity publication

PDF Version

March 11, 2010

The Bureau of Rural Sciences (BRS) released the brief Biosecurity and Australia’s primary industries – the role of biotechnology on Friday 5 March.

The publication highlights the contribution biotechnology is making to enhancing biosecurity in Australia’s agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries: pre-border, border and post- border. It provides a brief illustrated overview for decision makers in biosecurity and/or biotechnology areas within government and industry.

It addresses the lack of accessible information on the significance of biotechnology for biosecurity, by explaining technical concepts and providing examples to enhance stakeholders’ understanding of current and future biotechnology applications in biosecurity.
